I've been doing a lot of Fall Family "Foto" Shoots lately and it's been incredibly fun. I love working with kids and seeing mom and dad reconnect through their pictures. We've also been in some BEAUTIFUL places lately and the fall colors have been amazing.
There's a few reasons I love doing family shoots. First off, the kids are so fun! Meeting the kids and seeing their personalities shine through is an absolute blast. And trying to learn how to get them to smile and look at the camera (not always successfully as you can see here) is a very entertaining challenge. It's the best when you can just get the stress of everything to melt away for a minute and really capture the family enjoying each other and having fun. I've gotten some of my best shots in between the staging while the family is joking around with each other. It's also a lot of fun to get Mom and Dad's personality to shine through! I've heard a few really great "Dad Jokes" thanks to their "true" personalities coming out during picture time.
Another reason I love family pictures is because it reminds me how truly important our families are in our lives. I hold a high belief that family is an essential part of our time here on Earth and into the eternities and it's important that we honor the relationships that we have with our families. I am honored each time I'm asked to take a family's pictures because I understand how important these memories are. We aren't just taking pictures of one Sunday in the canyon, we are taking pictures of a time period in this family's life.
Last, but certainly not least, is seeing Mom and Dad's love come through on a shoot. I LOVE love! It's like doing a second engagement session! We hand the kids off to Grandma/Aunt/Known Friend etc and then Mom and Dad get all gushy and it's so cute. It's a good reminder of where the family started and rekindles that romance. It's always fun to see the different stages of romance as well and I am always trying to really capture those stages for each client I have.
Isn't this just all adorable!?
Needless to say, I love Family Foto Shoots.
And just for the heck of it, since we are talking about families and jazz, here's a picture of my cute family! I am so grateful for my husband and my beautiful fur babies. I'm excited to continue our life journey together.
